Baseball Addict: A Grand Slam Winner
Software Reviews
By: pdaBlast! Staff
November 26, 2003

It's the bottom of the ninth in the championship game. There are two outs and the bases are loaded. You come up to bat. Will you make the game winning hit, or will you strike out miserably? This is a dream that many young boys have, and Hexacto looks to make that dream become a reality through their baseball simulation Baseball Addict. Will Baseball Addict hit a walk off grand slam, or will it strike out swinging? Read the full review to find out.

Overview
Baseball Addict is a baseball simulation similar to those you would find on various gaming platforms. Hexacto's Baseball Addict features their proprietary PSI (Precise Stylus Input) technology. The PSI allows great accuracy and control using the stylus for input. This feature allows for a nice experience regardless of the layout of the hardware buttons. Among the Pocket PC devices that I use is a Pocket PC Phone Edition device, and it is nice to be able to use the stylus rather than the hardware buttons to control the game.

There are three distinct game play modes in Baseball Addict. You can play an exhibition game, compete in the home run derby, or see if you can win a tournament championship. Each of the modes also has three different difficulty levels: rookie, pro, all-star. This provides for a nice range of game play options.

Controls
Hexacto's PSI Technology is used in this game, and the game is controlled entirely through the use of the stylus. The stylus-only controls in this game really add to the overall playability.

The controls are fairly simple. When batting you wait for the pitch and press the spot where you would like your batter to swing. Pitching is nearly as simple. You select a pitch from your pitchers assortment of pitches and select the pitch location. Press and hold the location where you would like your pitcher to pitch, and you'll be able to adjust the speed that the pitch is thrown.
